Full-time Professional Circus Training - Budgeting

Students normally will need to budget for:

Tuition Fees
Living Costs (see below)
Medical Costs (see below)
Personal Project Costs
Optional Extras (if relevant)

Living Costs

you will need enough money for accommodation and living expenses during your time at the College.

It costs approximately £5,000 to live in England for a year. Here are some examples of approximate living costs: -

Renting a room, £50 - £80 per week
Bus Travel Pass, £35 per month
Food for self-catering, £20 - £25 per week

It is very important to have sufficient money to live on while you are in the UK.

Medical Costs

We suggest that students should pre-allocate some of the money in their budget towards the costs below:

Initial Physical Assessment

You will need to pay for the cost of your intial physical assessment, plus a written report of the findings. This is likely to cost in total @£20-£30.

Medical Expenses

We recommend that you have a contingency for any sports physio / osteo maintence you may need whilst training.
There is an excellent local osteopath who offers our students a great value concessionary rate.
We recommend that you budget for a minimum of 2 maintenace sessions per term.

If you have any concerns, it is very important that you see a specialist as soon as you can, so they can give you good advice and to help you keep in good shape for your training.

The NHS or Private Health Insurance?

Most people in the United Kingdom obtain medical treatment on the National Health Service (NHS) if they are ill.
If your course lasts for six months or more, you and your dependants are entitled to use the NHS in the same way as any permanent UK resident.
If you are an EEA citizen and have brought an E128 form with you, you should give this to the doctor whenever you go to have treatment.

We would advise you to take out private medical insurance if:

your course is for less than six months, and
you are not an EEA citizen, and
your country does not have a reciprocal agreement with the UK

You may also take out private health insurance if you wish even if you do not fall within the categories which qualify you for NHS treatment.
