Workshops:
Circus Maniacs has lots of experience running Circus Skills Workshops specifically for Brownie Groups to help their young members obtain their Brownie Circus Skills Badge.
Badge Requirements:
PART A
Select two skills from the list below. Under experienced guidance, show evidence of continuing study, effort and achievement in your chosen skills, and demonstrate your proficiency in both before an
audience.
- Aerial
Trapeze, Roman Rings, Aerial Ladder, Aerial Rope, Wire Walking and related skills. - Balance
Trick-cycling, Stilts, Ladder, Tightrope, Wire Walking, Perch, Roller Bolo, Slack-rope. - Manipulative
Plate Spinning, Cigar Boxes, Club Swinging, Devil Sticks, Diabolo Sticks, Juggling. - Ground
Handstands, Tumbling, Aerobatics - Clowning
Including make-up and costume.
Note:
Before attempting any of the skills participants must be of a fitness standard appropriate to both enjoy and execute the skill. Instructions in the safe use of the equipment must be given and all safety precautions and procedures must be observed.
PART B
- Study one aspect of circus life, and discuss it with the examiner.
- Observe at least two events, such as circus or street performers, and discuss these with the examiner.
Note:
Participants are encouraged to join a workshop, or other course, to learn their chosen skills.
